Dear Mayfair friends and family,

It is hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us! Holidays can be a very busy time with family and friends, and we wish everyone a warm and loving holiday season. We hope that you take time to rest, relax, and unwind as 2017 comes to a close. A new year always brings so much promise of better things to come. We look forward to many fantastic adventures ahead of us in 2018!

Mayfair is excited to host the first Family Code Night! This night is all about learning and working together to practice computer science. Students from Lee High School's computer Science Club will be on hand to assist families with getting online and learning all about coding. Click the button below to find out more about this night, and to register. It's free and no experience is needed!

 

Mrs. Choi has been working wonderfully with the students to prepare for this year's Winter Concert. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be performing on December 8th at 9 am for 3rd and 4th grade parents and again at 10 am for 3rd and 5th grade parents.

This year's class Christmas parties for grades kindergarten through fifth grade will be held on December 13th at 1:30 pm. This is the last full day of school before early dismissals and the Christmas Holidays. Please be on the lookout for more information from your child's teacher or room parents about this upcoming celebration.

Middle School will celebrate on December 18. They are asking for donations. Please check the ClassTag app or website to sign up.

Midterm Exams!!

Middle schoolers will be taking midterms on two early dismissal days in December.

December 14 - Math and Science

December 15 - ELA and SS

Please make sure your student is on time and stays the entire time. Midterms will begin at 8:30 am and end at 12:30 pm.

 

The seventh grade students have worked hard each and every morning to write, film, edit, and produce the morning news. Stay tuned next semester for even more exciting content to be developed by these bright young minds including music videos, commercials, and exciting Minecraft Collaborative Screencasts!

Mayfair Laboratory School's Broadcast team has been chosen as a PBS Student Reporting Lab. We will be working closely with PBS to research adn report on issues important to students in today's world. We are the only one in Louisiana! Excited about this special opportunity. Click below to read more about the Reporting Labs.

The November PBIS reward was a hit! Students earning 50 Paw Points won an afternoon eating nachos!! Here we have some second graders enjoying this special treat with their teacher, Mrs. Montz.

Congratulations to the fifth graders who graduated from DARE this past month! They participated in weekly DARE lessons designed to inform the students about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. The students wrote essays about their drug free pledge and acted out the lessons learned during their graduation. Great job kids!

 

Congratulations to Taylor Underwood! Taylor has been chosen as our Mayfair Student of the Year! She is in fifth grade this year and has been at Mayfair since the beginning. We are so proud of you, Taylor!
