What is technology?

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.

Our goal at Mayfair Lab is to get the most up-to-date technology into the hands of our students. Technology offers relevant , engaging and meaningful opportunities for student learning. Students learn new ways to create, communicate, problem solve and collaborate using 21st century skills (including computer science/coding!).

We are 1:1 in Grades 2-8 which means every student has access to a Chromebook device each day.

Research that supports shifts in today's classrooms for future jobs is at the forefront of most school based studies currently. Teachers are preparing students today for jobs that do not currently exist. According to the International Society for Technology in education,

"By 2020, more than a third of the core skill sets required for most jobs will include

skills that aren’t considered crucial today. Nearly nine in 10 workers anticipate having

to develop new skills all throughout their lives to keep up with the changes. And the

most crucial skills they’ll need, according to many experts, are cross-disciplinary

        ones." ISTE

Some of the technology students take part in include:

- Hour of Code

- Google Classroom

- GoNoodle

- Common Sense Media
